Pros: Great fun to ride, easy on gas and to park - an overall blast!
Cons: Sometimes doesn't want to start.
Got the ET4 this past summer rather than replacing the old car with another - for commutes to the train station in Souther California it seemed ideal. Great gas mileage (about 55 mpg), no parking issues, and a complete blast to ride.
I now have 2200 miles on it, and still love riding it, but am quite disappointed with the fact that on some mornings it just doesn't want to start. I cannot exactly correlate this problem with temperature or humidity per se, though the 5 or 6 times it refused to start were usually on mornings where the mercury dipped to 40-ish Farenheit and it was unseasonably humid. Mind you, on other days with seemingly identical conditions, it started without a problem.
I've taken it back to the dealer (who performed the 600 and 2000 mile maintenance jobs) and the mechanic said "well, it's a scooter - sometimes they don't start". Not exactly the answer I was looking for.
Obviously, if I am to rely on this little beast to get me to work every day, it needs to start every day. It only ever gets premium grade gas from name brand stations (at the behest of the Vespa dealer mechanic when I bought it) and gets no abuse - and still it has occasion to refuse to start.
I wrote to Vespa NY recently, but with the holidays I'm sure it will be a while before I get a response - if I ever do. Perhaps they're happy enough with their sales that they don't care to address this kind of problem.
