| RLoter's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha Road Star |
I bought a 2000 Road Star just 3 weeks ago. I chose this bike because it just seemed to fit me and it had the look and feel I wanted, without the high price. Also, I have a 32" inseam and, though it could be 1" lower, I did not have any problems planting both feet on the ground at stops.
I just returned from a 400 mile ride and I love every thing about the way this bike rides. It is a ride all day bike. Even when you get tired, you do not want to stop.
Before leaving on my trip, I ordered, and had installed, a large Yamaha Silverado windshield, because I had read about head buffeting and wind noise with the small and mid-sized one. I did not have that problem with this windshield.
I also wanted highway pegs and a cruse control, and have a comment on both. WARNING!...Do not buy the Yamaha engine guard. It is so small that it just covers the shift and brake pedals, which makes it very difficult to install and use any type of highway peg. This is a completely useless piece if equipment. My dealer also tried to put on a cruse control and found that a standard, 2 line, control will not work. He is not even sure if anyone makes one for this bike.
These 2 major disappointments with accessories aside, this is still an excellent motorcycle. I can highly recommend this bike.
