| tinkerbellbk's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha Road Star |
I am the proud owner of a new Yamaha Road Star. It replaced my Honda Shadow and has surpassed my expectations in the riding experience.
On my first ride I put more than 500 miles on the bike in one day. It performed flawlessly and impressed me in several areas. Most of my riding buddies ride Harley's and they have all been impressed with the style and performance of this machine.
The most notable difference in this bike over the other bikes I have owned is the power and comfort. There is legroom to spare, which can be a problem for the height impaired. I have to make an extra effort when putting down the kickstand. Holding the bike up at stops isn't a problem due to the low seat height.
The large gas tank along with a working gas gauge is a great advantage.
Also, Yamaha has taken a lesson from Harley and made a ton of accessories available to the biker.
In review, this bike is awesome.
*** update ***
After having owned this bike for a 1 1/2 years, I feel very qualified to give a long term review.
I have had this bike on several 1000 mile plus cruises and rode it in all kinds of weather.
To date the only problem I've had has been with the fuel tank. It collapsed due to a faulty check valve. Yamaha replaced it in about 1/2 a day and I was back on the road. That is it. No other problems at all except maybe finding enough time to truly enjoy this great machine.
For the first time in my long history of riding, over a year down the road and I'm still happy. I'm not looking at every new bike that arrives in the local showrooms.
It is still "Monster Fun".
