| nerves's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha Road Star |
I just purchased My 2001 Road Star a little over a week ago, and the power is just fantastic, the low end torque is something of a super dragster. I had the dealer Jet it and removed the ECG, installed B.A.K. (Big air kit), V&H Pipes and lots of extra chrome, as if the bike did not come with enough, and opted for no windshield. The Tank holds 5+ gallons of fuel, which provided me with 245 miles of range. The envy factor is of the roof. My nieghbor who owns both a spirnger and a fat boy (Harley's), just put his fatboy up for sale and has ordered a Road Star.
Breaking is "on the money" and it handles more like a "pocket rocket" than a cruiser. Shifting is so easy, is virtually impossible to miss. Clutch is some what stiff, but you get used to it. Accessories are evrywhere, so customizing is easy and a must. vibrations are there like in every V-Twin (Like it should be), but less than a Harley. Onto the factory seats, the driver seat is a little to hard for "ALL day ridding" but the passenger is a lot softer, But I don't know of any serious biker that keeps the factory seat. Go mustang or corbin.
Engine responses will blow you away becuase there is no throttle "lag" and no miss fires. TORQUE BABY TORQUE!!!!!!! Stop light sprint KING BABY! Nothing touches you, NOTHING! As you can tell I'm very impressed by the amount of low end torque, this baby will pull you facial skin backward forcing you to smile. At the local bike hangout only the confederate and Boss Hoss bike clean me at low end, and at high end the Honda valkery is still king with it's V-6. But you don't buy a cruiser for High end, you buy it to cruise! and to make a statement about your persona. If you are a fallower buy H&D or something else if you are the "leader of the pack" get a Road Star!
