| alroadstar's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha Road Star |
What can I say? Where do I start? One word....AWESOME. I was in the market for A HD Heritage Softail. After receiving the wonderful, courteous service from the local Harley dealership (NOT!!!) I decided that there must be some other avenue to approach. That is when I ran across the Yamaha Road Star. After reading so much about the bike I decided it was the one for me. Just one problem. Now that I wanted one I could not find one. Apparently Yamaha does not flood the market with these bikes. Great for resale. Not good for me, because I wanted NEW. Finally after finding one, I made my purchase. Since then I have added a Silverado windshield, Vance & Hines Longshots, Saddle Bags, a WHOLE ton of chrome. Just recently I purchased a Mustang Seat with riders backrest (perfect if you plan on touring). We just came back from a trip to Deals Gap North Carolina and Gatlinburg, TN. 725 miles total and I am ready to go back out. I have nothing to say but compliments to Yamaha for designing such a wonderful and exciting bike. It seems like some of the people that have most admired it have been Harley owners. That should say enough alone. Traditional styling with fuel mileage of 41 to 48 miles a gallon (that is with Vance & Hines exhaust and a rejetted carb)along with superb performance, why would you buy a Harley.................PS..It even sounds better than a Harley!!!!!!!!!!!
