We looked at dirt bikes for my son for a long time. We wanted something we could take to the track to play on or go for a multiple day ride in the mountains. We tried Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha. The problem always seemed that they were to small for him, or they were to heavy if they fit him. We had a chance to rent a TT-R125L from a local shop.
What a bike! Plenty of power, handles very well, looks good and it is light (very important to me for safety). My son is now 5'9" and 145 lbs he can still ride this bike with no problems. I have even ridden it a few times. It is very durable and has taken some very difficult trips. He has taken it up hills that my 250 has struggled with and had it in mud up to the seat - the 125L did each with ease.
Like many four strokes the only problem we have had with it is cold starting. To be fare I have never taken it to the dealer to look at this. But several trips have started out slow due to problems getting the bike to start. I have tried adjusting it myself, and we always carry an extra plug. But once it has warmed up we have never had a problem with it starting.
This is a great bike
