Pros: Good build quality, light weight, electric start, good handling.
Cons: Blue plastic scratches and scuffs easily. Clutch engagement a little abrupt for young riders.
The Bottom Line: If you have a young child or smaller spouse, this machine is super. High quality, great handling, super looks!

| crfralick's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha TT-R125 |
I bought a TTR-125LE (electric start, big wheel version) for my 12 year old son. I was looking for something non-threatening (he doesn't like fire-breathing 2 strokes), versatile, and something he wouldn't outgrow in a year. I am a Honda fan of many years, but Yamaha has produced a superb product in this machine. It's light, handles well, is a snap to maintain, and can perform most any off-road task reasonably well. I opted for the big-wheel, electric start version and would recommend it as the best of the bunch of TTR-125s. In addition to larger wheels and electric start, this version has an aluminum swingarm where the others have steel. Also has a disc up front instead of drum, and has a true full-size feel despite being easy for mt 12 year old to ride. I can ride it without needing a chiropractor afterwards and it is very well built and attractive. He gets lots of comments from the track crowd and is proud of his new machine. That's what counts folks, because if they like what the throw their leg over, they'll ride it more. Great machine. Only real negatives are slightly abrupt clutch engagement (may loosen up with break in) and plastic that scratches, scuffs, and crazes easily. I highly recommend it.
