| ggrove33's Full Review: 2000 Yamaha V Star Classic |
I was searching for a cruiser in the early summer and ran across the V-Star by chance. I was looking for a Harley Sportster and visited a Kawasaki dealer that had just taken this bike in on a trade. The bike really impressed me from the looks and I immediately liked it.
This bike really is a perfect fit for a smaller individual (shorter). It has the looks of a Harley FATBOY at on third the cost. The reliability is great too. The bike has all the classic features, feel and sound of an old school cruiser.
The bike has an electric start with no kick starter. This could pose a problem if you run the battery dead. The bike has rear suspension enclosed in the frame so you get the hard tail look without the hard ride. The bike has a 4.6 gallon gas tank and can run for about 200 miles on a tank of gas. The seat that comes with the bike is a bit hard and can be easily upgraded to a Mustang seat that will provide a very smooth ride. There are many optional pieces of equipment for the bike at relatively low prices. There is lots of chrome on this bike from the dealer and you would have to pay a fortune to match the chrome on a Harley.
Overall I am very pleased with this bike and would recommend to anyone as an entry level bike.
