XT 350 ON/OFF ROAD THUMPER

Written: Jan 06 '00 (Updated Jan 06 '00)
Pros:Decent Power/ Price Is Right
Cons:Cold Blooded

OK, let me lay a little ground work first before i get started. I`ve been riding since i was 10 years old in the deserts of California. I started out on a Honda Trail 50 then moved on to a YZ 80 shortly thereafter. I`ve had a Ninja 500 a Yamaha XS 1100 and various other dirt bikes. Some say i was better than Phil Lawrence who rode motocross professionally, but thats neither here nor there. Well, i crossed into unchartered territory when i got my XT 350. On and off road what the heck is this? I was just sitting around one day thinking to myself "self," i said,"why dont you get up off your tookis and get a bike." Well i did . A brand spanking new XT 350 Yamaha. I`ve had it about 4 months and have had no problems. The only thing that i can foreshadow is the slow time it takes to warm up which might be a problem. The bike handles fair in the dirt and suprisingly well on the street. The 346CC power plant affords me enough power to pass cars or climb a steep hill out in the boondocks. I think the ride is nice enough to go around the neighborhood or on short runs to the beach etc. Anyone who likes to ride street bikes and sees a big pile of dirt or mysterious dirt road and says to themself,"i could keep going or tackle that obstacle," should by this bike.
