Pros:Power, Speed, sound, aftermarket upgrades
Cons:Cooling system,top end problems
The Bottom Line: Banshee, is overall the best, and not the most expensive, is also the most fun to ride, the awsome power of its 2 stroke engine is the best

Yes the Raptor 660,the DS650, and the 400EX, Maybe bigger in size (and price when it comes to raptor and DS)but none of these machines compare to the awsome power of a 350 TWIN 2-Stroke. You ride a banshee for one month, then go on and ride ANY 4 stroke, and tell me that the 4 stroke feels better. 4 strokes lack the thrill of power band, and that mean high pitched screaming when you ripping through a field. The bottom line is, Banshee is by far the best feeling, best riding quad out there. I can think of TWO things that the banshee lacks. A cooling system that can handle the 350 twin cylinder powerplant. This problem can be easily fixed with a $200 purchase of a Billet, or Pro design cool head and domes. This dosnt only make it cool more efficiantly, but it also is a huge horsepower gain. And the second thing, is the Top End problems which most long time banshee owners have witnessed. So by investing lets say another 175, in a nice set of performance pistons (wiseco)problem solved (if you take other percautions (use good oil, check rings frequently)) so lets see a banshee goes for about $6000 brand new and a Raptor (supposibly the "best" quad out) goes for $7000 and you throw $375 into a banshee...your still underspending the raptor, while you have a machine that has no real maintnence concerns. So tell me is the Raptor or the DS the best because of its price tag?...If thats why its the best then dont invest in a new ATV. I can think of many things i dont like about the high priced raptor..but i think the 2 big ones are efficiant for now...first off, they have very common transmission failures, try fixing that before it happens.. you cant, so basically you just got to wait about a year to dump a couple hundred into a low quality transmission in a supposibly high quality machine (granted they are both made by yamaha)i think yamaha came out with the raptor to gain popularity on a machine that would reel in the money....you cant tell me they wernt trying so save a few bucks when they threw some plastic skid plates on it. If you gonna pay $7000 on somthing it damn well better be good.So all i can say is when you are looking to purchase an ATV dont look at popularity, or price, look at the problems they have, and what it would take to fix them and if the pros, out weigh the cons. From my point of veiw you can save a grand and get more out of it, from the grand you save on a banshee, take that $1000 and put on a cool head, pistons, pipes and silencers, air filter, boost bootle and a jet kit...and ill bet you money no $7000 raptor will compare. On top of this..you can add all you want to a raptor, and you wont get much more out of it...a pipe will had a little torque and a lot of sound, thats it.you put pipes on a banshee, then hold on!. I currently own a 1999 Yamaha Banshee. it has FMF fatty pipes and silencers,Wiseco pro lite high performance .20 pistons, K&N power kit, Dyno test jet kit, FMF torque reeds, white bro. boost bottle, renthal bars, trail tech speedometer, Armadillo custom chrome front bumper, dg nerf bars, moose shock covers, billet handle bar clamp,Ceet raphic kit, Ceet seat cover, DG baja full skids (chassi, A-Arm, Swing Arm), cascade light covers, sur trak rears mounted on ITP almn rims, there is prolly more but that is all i can think of at the moment, if you have any questions on purchasing Banshee performance parts, and what my opinion on what to get email me at DrAsTiKChAnJeZ@aol.com
