Pros: Excellent throttle response, lots of power, fun to ride. Comfortable seat.
Cons: Difficult to handle in sandy or gravel roads. Unstable at 80mph or higher.
I purchased this cycle for $5,500 cash. I wanted to primarily ride this bike on dirt roads, but since I live in Arizona our roads are mostly sandy. This cycle is very difficult to ride on loose dirt. Don't even try it on gravel. I ended up changing the tires the first week. Put on the more aggressive dirt only tires and you will have an excellent off road bike. Only because I love to ride on dirt roads. The XR650L runs nice on paved roads. It has lost of power and keeps up with most other cycle on the road. I'm only 5'10 and can just touch the ground. Due to this, I have lost control of the cycle several times just because I didn't have my feet on the ground long enough to support the weight of the cycle. It's fairly heavy, but If your 6' ft or taller you shouldn't have any problems. I enjoy the fact that the
it does get fairly good mileage. Between 50-60 mpg depending on how aggressive you drive. Maintenance is very easy if you buy the shop repair manual which is on around 48 bucks. My neck, shoulders, wrists, and back love this cycle because it's comfortable to ride. Unlike my new Suzuki Katana. Overall an excellent cycle.
