I have a 2002 grand am SE 1coupe with the new 2.2 4 cyl. ecotec engine, 140 hp, 150 ft/lbs of torque. The engine is so smooth that sometimes I need to check the RPM's to make sure the car is still running! The new engine and GETRAG transmission were designed in Germany and their performance is outstanding. The car has excellent accelleration, a slick shifting 5 speed manual, tight and responsive steering, tires that grip the road as if they were glued to it, an awesome 200 watt monsoon cd system with 8 speakers and subwoofer, and agressive styling unlike any other car on the road. The car feels solid and is well built. I absolutely love this grand am! It is the best looking car out there for the money, and you don't have to compromise looks and performance for price either! It is fully loaded and costs less than a honda civic si! Much more car for the money. I only wish that GM would improve some of the interior components. Don't get me wrong, the interior is gorgeous and very futuristic, but somethings just feel cheap and flimsy. Apart from that, I haven't had any problems with it yet, it is 4 months old.
