When I first saw info on the Element (when it was just a little prototype) I thought odd, perhaps even ugly. I was looking (casually) for a vehicle.
I was seriously considering the CRV, but with reservations. I did not like the seat fabric of the CRV (I know trivial but it really annoyed me). I always had issues with carpeting in a vehicle (just absurd). The CRV was kinda, well boring, yet reliable, dependable, and a superior SUV!
So I checked the (Toyota) Matrix aside from the spare tire looking wheels, it was possible. Nice ride, etc... And fun looking! The Rav4, well felt cramped, and just there was something about it that did not click with me.
I looked at the Subarus, well aside from the extremely RUDE people there; the vehicle was not very inspired! Rather ho-hum! Not very roomy, and the choices were frustrating. If you want this vehicle you are stuck with perhaps atrocious fabric, maybe no skylight, or some cheesy accessory or add-on that you have to fight to not have, not worth it!
I checked out a myriad of vehicles each of which there was something about it, price, ride, style, reliability, mpg, dealer, there was always Something Annoying!
I knew what I wanted; it just was not out there, until... The Element! Here is a versatile vehicle that is comfortable, yet has a utility flexibility! How Super-hero is that? Comfortable ride, I love the comfort! Spacious: elbow, leg & head room, really I can not say enough nice things about it. The driving position is excellent, with drivers seat height adjustment! Gauges are easy to access, everything is convenient. You can fit real size drinks in the beverage holders, like a huge insulated 24 ounce drink! Oh & I love the rubber floors and heck a washable interior, what a dream!!
I really could not find any lows, but it was a required field... sooo if I had to change something it would be the (lack of) bungee loops on the back of the passenger seat, and (lack of) a tailgate release from inside.
GREAT CAR!
