| rick727's Full Review: 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Mean Streak |
I have a 2002 Mean Streak (red of course, just like the picture). This is an awesome bike. I have over 9,000 miles on this bike and have ridden it for a little over 2 years.
I also graduated from a Vulcan 500 just like another reviewer on this site. The Mean Streak is my first big bike and I have been extremely pleased with it. I bought it mainly because of the reviews on its handling, and of course its incredible styling.
The bike looks fast and it is faster than its other Vulcan cruiser cousins. However, it is not as fast as other bikes in its class (Yamaha Warrior, Honda VTX, Victory, some Harleys, etc.) The Mean Streak beats all of these other bikes in handling. It is great for taking in the twisties. I have only taken it long distance once, and it wasn't too bad. If I did a lot of long distance touring I would probably get a different bike. My riding is predominantly commuting to work and the Mean Streak is perfect!
I bought a Corbin Young Guns saddle for this bike, but went back to the stock seat after 6 months. The Corbin looked great, but was not as comfy as the stock seat. The stock seat is a little small for a passenger, but since I ride solo it is not a problem.
I bought a small aftermarket windshield (Memphis Shades). I wish I had bought the Kawasaki Fire and Steel windshield because it fits the bike very nicely. If you are riding at highway speeds then you will definately want a windshield.
I would highly recommend this bike.
