Pros: Good power, good handling, good seating position.
Cons: needs a Tachometer and a Gas Gauge, could sound more beefy (not louder)
The Bottom Line: If you are in the market as a beginner or experienced not wanting a bigger bike, take a look at this bike maybe you like it too.

| ftavassoli's Full Review: 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD |
After countless hours on the Internet reading the reviews and visiting different bike dealerships and studying the details such as height, weight, comfort, style, engine etc. I determined that for my height (5' 6") and weight (~180 Lbs) and age (46 yrs) a cruiser would be most suitable. Since I was a beginner (in the motorcycle world, I have been riding bicycles all my life), I went and took a motorcycle rider safety course (*** two days, HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT***). I did not want to get any of the bigger, heavier and stronger bikes. My dilemma was which bike to choose, quite frankly the looks of the Vulcan 500 LTD was most appealing. So after all my research, I came across a slightly used (1300 miles) one and went to see it. When I first test drove it in the parking lot, it seemed like a big bike to me. So after going home and thinking it over, I decided to buy it anyways. Let me tell you I was very nervous about driving my Vulcan the first time, so I took it for a 15 or 20 minute ride in my neighborhood's streets at speeds of 20-25 miles an hour, and it really felt great. Since then it has been nothing but fun. I drive my Vulcan almost everyday and loving it. I get about 55-60 miles per gallon the way I drive. I value these reviews because they are done by people who actually have and drive these bikes, so they all draw from their own personal experiences. So if you are looking to get on a bike, dont hesitate to give these bikes a test drive it may be the bike for you. In my opinion, this is a good bike for beginners or even more experienced people with small to medium body frame and can be a commuter for years to come. I really enjoy riding my Vulcan 500 LTD. After 2 hours of riding it is a good idea to get off the bike and take a breather, walk around (my longest ride was 3 hours non stop). So far I have had this bike for about two weeks at about 300 miles, I will write again when I have more miles on it.
