I have been riding for a little over 15 years. Never have I had such an incredible motorcycle as the awesome zx10.

I bought my zx10 about 2 months ago. I upgraded from a zx9. Don't get me wrong the zx9 is an amazing all around motorcycle. And after being on the zx10 I can tell you the zx9 is more comfortable. But the zx10 has something the 9 doesnt, gobs of unadulterated power.
Once again like when I went to buy my zx9 I wanted to buy a Suzuki gsxr 1000, the new model. But it was so hot that I had to get on a waiting list. Add to that the fact that it would cost around 11,600 after tax title and all the other bogus charges they add on. So I went on research frenzy and found that many out there still consider the zx10 a better motorcycle then the new Suzuki 1000. Went back to the dealer and I was able to acquire a 2005 silver zx10.
After all was said and done I walked out of there paying $10,589. Not a bad price considering that the sticker price for it is $11,000. I would go further and encourage all of you to try to find a used one. There are plenty out there. I almost bought the zx12 but the lack of digital speedometer was one of the main reasons why I wanted a new bike and the zx12 did not have a digital speedometer.
I drove the bike out and at first it felt like a dog. The bike is geared high and there is a good reason why. In the highways was I hit the throttle a little hard on 2nd gear and the thing started to lift on me. I was finally impressed.
After breaking the bike in, I finally was able to really see what it had. At first the bike was so powerful it was uncontrollable. It was very scary. It is a true beast to say the least. It has two power bands. One from 6000 rpm to 10,000 rpm and one from 10 to 13,000 rpm. The latter power surge is unreal. You have better be holding on tight or you will get yanked off the bike. Not to mention that do this in any of the first 3 gears and the front wheel will come up without a problem. As you gain speed the front does get light and the handlebars begin to whale left and right. A stabilizer bar is definitely a must. Something Kawasaki should have added. But oh well beggars cant be choosers. You will find it very easy to go fast on this thing. You really don't even feel the speed. First gear will do 100MPH without thinking about it. Go into second and third gear and youre easily doing 140. You still have 3 gears to go. Imagine. The speedometer is easy to see and the RPM gauge is not so easy but you get used to it. The shift light makes it easy to forget about the RPM gauge. Just wait for the light. You can set the RPM shift light to come on anywhere from around 6000 RPM up till redline. I have my set at 12,500 RPM which is 500 shy of redline. Let me tell you I rarely see that light! This thing will wheelie on first and second with no effort whatsoever! Just twist the throttle and hang on! Do it too hard and you will be on your back! The low fuel light comes on at about 100 miles or a bit less. You still have almost a gallon and a half to go before you go empty. The front brakes are good but they dont feel powerful. In other words you really have to pull the lever to get some good brake action. When you do you can count on the bike stopping quickly. The back brakes are the same. The bike is extremely comfortable considering the riding position is very race like. You put lots of weight on your wrist and arms. You will begin to feel it right away if you are not used to it. Once you do get used to it, it becomes natural. The suspension is extremely good and can be adjusted easily. I recommend tightening everything one notch from factory setting, if you weight anywhere from 160 to 200 lbs. for NY pot holes I have even soften the suspension to the maximum softness and it still handles fair at high speeds but takes more work to get it to turn. It really is not recommended unless you really know what you are doing and are an experienced rider.
Now for some of the negatives: The windscreen is silly protection. A double bubble windscreen is a must. If you plan on riding with a passenger often, this bike is definitely not the one to get. Think zx12. You will be completely exhausted in 5 minutes with a passenger, unless your passenger weighs 80 lbs. The back end of the bike is so high up that the passenger cant help but always slide into you, putting your precious jewels, arms and wrists at serious discomfort. When hot, it will blow some intense heat and roast your calves and feet! Do not wear shorts! Trunk space? Forget it! There is no trunk! Well maybe enough for two packs of gum! The lights were way off and I had to adjust them. It took forever to get them decent. This could be different for all models. Speaking of lights, this bike has that annoying one headlight on while using low beam and both lights on with the high beam. Even a cop told me one day my headlight was out!! Needless to say now I ride with both lights on most of the time. Even at night I have lowered the high beam so I dont disturb other drivers. My zx9r was not this way and the lights were superb. Surely Kawasaki can do better in this department. The fairing is super flimsy! I know that they are trying to save weight but man sometimes you push the bike and put your hands on some plastic part and it begins to make cracking sounds! Not a cool feeling.
Well there it is in a nutshell. The shortcoming of this bike is in no way a turn off. They can be lived with as long as you realize this a full all out sport bike beast. If you want to go riding from parking lot to parking lot with your friends than get a different bike
