About the car:
2005 Dodge Caravan SE, 3.3L V6 motor, AC, cruise, power windows, doors, keyless entry. In Canada, these are all standard with the purchase of a Caravan SE.
History:
I have owned my 2005 Dodge Caravan for 1 year and put 30,000 miles on it. Since I have purchased the van, it has been in for electrical problems 9 Times! The last time, It was in the shop for 6 weeks.
The electrical problem:
I have had a problem with this van for 6 months. It has been brought in 9 times for the same problem. The problem is, all electrical in the van dies after a heavy rainfall. (wipers, turn signals, brake lights, all dash instruments, headlights and heating controls) Every time I bring it in, they insist it has been fixed this time around. They have replaced the master computer, and the body control module, along with rewiring done between the devices. I am not having an easy time with it, and daimler chrysler head office has no interest in helping me permanently resolve the problem, nor does the dealership.
The rest of the car:
Ride quality is good, no noise even at highway speeds. The radio functions well and sounds good. The vehicle is solid, other than the aformentioned problem with electrical. I have noticed the brakes have had to be replaced every 15,000miles, which seems quite poor. The vehicle handles nicely and gets decent gas mileage.
