| copescjohn1's Full Review: 2005 Honda Elite 80 |
Honda is most well known for reliability, this applies also to their line of Motorcycles and Scooters. The Elite 80 combines a quiet hassle free 4 stroke 80cc engine (No need to mix oil and gas) with quality craftsmanship into one great little ride.
At 6 feet tall and 200lbs, I have no trouble zipping around town. The smooth performing engine can take me to speeds of 40-45 mph regularly, with the occasional 50 mph sprint on a back country road.
The ever increasing costs of gasoline convinced me to purchase my Elite 80. At first I didn't know what to expect, but the ongoing changes and improvements at Honda have made this little scooter capable of 80-90 mpg. I live about 9 miles from work and drive my scooter every day. My conditions are mostly country roads with little city traffic.
This scooter takes a very short time to adjust to. I have had full sized motorcycles in the past, and a scooter does handle differently. The small tires at high speeds can be a bit unsteady at first. Just take your time and adjust as you learn.
Maintenance is easy to do yourself, oil changes every 1000 miles. I have found a new spark plug at every oil change keeps the scooter starting every time with out a hitch. Honda provides excellent services and I highly recommend them for scheduled services.
I have been on this scooter in 37 degree weather, as well as rain and even some snow flurries. Most of the time has been spent in the heat of the South. So far 3950 miles later my Elite has not let me down!
