The only 330 I've been able to test drive is with the automatic - no dealers in the L.A. area stock manuals. I was able to drive a used 2006 325 with a manual and, frankly, wasn't to thrilled with the clutch/shifter. The clutch seemed a bit springy and the shifter was so-so (I especially hate where BMW puts reverse). I don't think I saw anything regarding the 330 transmission in your review, I'd be interested in getting your opinion. If memory serves, drive571 rated it as average in his review.

So now I'm back to deciding between the Legacy and the 330. I also re-drove the IS350 and was more impressed the second time and especially like the Lexus's better reliability record. So that's still a possibility too - although I'd most likely wait a few months if I want an IS to let the market cool down on that car a little.

Yeah, the 330 blew me away as well. But I'd also drive the 325 before spending the big bucks. The seat of my pants doesn't feel a big difference between the two. The torque rating of the 325 engine is suspiciously low...

Most of what I've seen just talks about cosmetic changes - inside and out. However, I did just find a site which lists all the changes and among them is "Revised suspension tuning with new shock absorbers". So looks like you're right, Infiniti is trying to address the ride issue. I'll make changes to the review and add that info as well.

I might swing by the Infiniti dealer to check out the changes once its released. But I doubt I'll by one. I just drove both the IS and 330i yesterday and, although the IS is nice, the BMW just blew me away. Most likely that will be my new car soon. :-)

I think the 2006 should be out in January. At least that's the last thing I read. Another test drive and review?

Also, are you sure they're not tweaking the suspension? They already did this once, a couple of years ago, in search of a smoother ride. The ride was even worse before.
