I am going to preface this review with a disclaimer, I don't know much about cars.. I am not clueless, but not far from it.. and if you are reading this, you no doubt know the background of the vehicle, so i won't go into the relationship between Saab (GM) and Subaru. Having said that.. I picked up this car about 5 months ago and am very satisfied. The turbo is great, plenty of pick up to get up to speed. I got the sport package (including sunroof, 17' rims, and 6 disk in-dash CD) and the cold weather package (heated seats and wiper blades). The leather package would have been nice, but I didn't think it justified the price, so i left it off.
I'll start with the good. Comfortable interior, easy access to the accessories. The stereo has good sound and is easy to use. The engine (2.0 turbo 4 cylinder) is peppy and the 5 speed transmission makes the car a lot of fun to drive.
Now, a couple of things that could have been better.. The sunroof is small. Not a huge problem, but you'd think that a wagon would have a larger sunroof. Another suggestion for the sunroof, there is 2 switches, one to raise it, the other to slide it back, and it seems to always catch ½ way when closing it.
I noticed someone in a previous review said the AWD is good in snow, but that was certainly not my experience; But I think the main reason the traction was so bad in the snow was the performance low-profile tires. Next winter i am going to have to pick up a set of snow tires. Another small annoyance is the amount of road noise that is evident. Especially when driving on a gravel road. It seams there isn't any sound deadening in the wheel wells.
Bottom line, I really enjoy the car. Lots of fun to drive and it handles great on dry pavement, but poor in the snow, but if you are careful, you should be ok.
