The new 2005 Scion tC, starting at about $16,500, is made for those of you who are looking for a "fun" car, yet have a budget to consider. The tC is in competition with a Honda Civic as far as price range, yet it somehow out-classes it by far. Although Scion is a branch off of Toyota and Lexus, its name is still in development which could explain why the price is so low. On the plus side, knowing that it is made by Toyota assures you that it will be reliable for quite a while.
Besides the low price, the tC comes fully equipped with a 160 horsepower/ 2.4 liter engine. In my opinion, it has much more power than actually needed, which is definitely a plus. Its handling is above-average...but its power makes up for it.
Its interior is a completely different story. For a coupe, the tC's length (from rear bumper to front bumper) is actually quite short, which makes parking much simpler. However, the inside cabin surely does not make it seem small. It is extremely roomy for a 2-door car, and the way the seats are foldable impressed me as well.
Now, as far as interior features go, the sound-system is quite adequate for what you are paying for(although the plastic covering could become a nuisance at times), the semi-bucket seating is quit comfortable, and the room for the rear passengers is a delight for its size. The panoramic moonroof is also a plus, for it is in the rear and the front. It's just one of those things that is nice to have.
The thing I liked best about this car was that everything you need(and somethings that you want) all come stock! Although it does have many options that you can add onto it, everything you need is in the package itself. There are no adjustments you can make to the engine, which makes things much simpler. I was very pleased when I purchased my tC.
