Pros: Reliability, storage, comfort, confidence in the machine and fuel economy.
Cons: It is hard to find anything negative to say. Perhaps checking air pressure is cumbersome.
The Bottom Line: I would have no hesitation in recommending this product for use in city, suburbs or in the country. It is very reliable and fuel efficient.

| rideaway's Full Review: 2005 Yamaha Majesty |
At 60 years of age I decided I wanted a scooter. I am a resident of NSW, Australia. To obtain a L permit you need to attend a training school and pass an theory exam. After achieving this I purchased a 150cc Taiwanese made scooter, a TGB. It was a nice scooter but could not travel at greater than 85km / hr without reaching the redline. After subsequently passing the licence test I decided to upgrade and after some research settled on the Majesty 400.
I have now covered 5,000 kms in about 10 months. I use the scooter for pleasure and convenience and the car when I have to carry passengers or do supermarket shopping.
This machine has started first time every time. I like the way it is ready to ride away pretty well straight away although I generally let the engine run for a minute before taking off cold. It is a very comfortable bike (I say bike because it seems more like a bike in many respects that a scooter). I find the handling to be excellent on sealed roads. I have not pushed it at all in wet conditions and gravel is not its favourite surface, so I avoid unsealed roads where possible.
Acceleration is in my view very adequate. It is obviously not going to accelerate like a 650cc motorcycle, but it seems to me to be at least the equal of an average family sedan. Acceleration from 80 to 120 Kms is good and is smooth. The bike has no trouble at all cruising along at freeway speed (in Australia that is 110kms / hr) and will pull up hills with ease (better than many family sedans).
I like the seat height which is actually lower than the little TGB I had previously. Despite the vehicle weighing over 200kg and me weighing just 65kgs, I have no trouble whatsoever moving it on or off its centre stand.
Storage is fantastic. Under the seat I have room for helmet, gloves, wet weather gear and room for a moderate amount of shopping (or Chinese take away). I have had a Givi top box on order since March last year. It finally arrived just before Christmas and I am having it fitted tomorrow. I am sure that in other countries customers would not have to wait so long.
Getting a pressure gauge onto the valves does require the development of a technique but once you have mastered it, it is not too bad.
Fuel consumption is really good. I have kept a complete record and am achieving just a tick worse than 4 litres per 100 kilometres (69.3 Imperial MPG - not sure of US MGP). The instrumentation is modern and easy to read.
At first I felt uncomfortable in strong wind at highway speed but am now used to it and feel quite safe.
I still love this machine and look forward to each ride, especially when the weather is nice, which here on the Mid North Coast of NSW is almost all the time.
