I bought my Vino 125 August 2005. I use it for work commute and love the handling and power. It has been a great bike except for a recurring charging system problem. We live in the Northwest and ride all year as long as it is above 37F. Last winter, my first with this scooter, the battery started going dead. I took it back to the dealer and they said there was a factory defect with the stator in the charging system. After 6 weeks in the shop the dealer finally took the parts off a new bike to repair mine. After that the charging system worked fine until this December. I took the scooter in for the 4000 mile service and after getting it back the battery started going dead again. We took it back to the dealer and they say Yamaha suggests not using the electric starter and I should not drive if for less than 30 minutes continuously. The bike is driven 10 miles to work in 20 minutes, so the 5 seconds of using the starter should not be causing this problem. I am not at all happy with being told I am at fault when this is obviously a problem with a factory defect. There is absolutely nothing in the owners manual or Yamaha web site to support this claim relating to use of the electric starter. I refuse to believe this bike is only built for long commutes. Based on this incident I am not recommending the purchase of Yamaha products.
