I started my search for a new car and test drove the Acura TSX. That was a very nice car, I didn't buy it but I did get it's larger sibling
The car has a 270HP VTec V6. They state the power is actually 258 or whatever, who knows why but it was originally marketed as 270.
I bought this car because of Acura/Honda's track record for building a great car. The resale value as of this point is excellent compared to my previous vehicles, Dodge, Mazda and Ford.
The one I bought is Diamond White Pearl with Grey leather interior. At this point I have noticed the following things with the car.
With just a little over 10k on the car the brakes started pulsating, I had the dealer turn the rotors which ended up having the pulsation come back after only another 5k. This has yet to be resolved. I also blew the subwoofer (because I like loud music) after my first 2 months of ownership. This needed to be replaced. I also had some factory paint issues which my dealer was able to resolve by giving me a rental car for 4 days.
I love the hands-free bluetooth phone feature although it doesn't always recognize you if you have a window open, if someone talks when it's trying to process what you just said to it, or if you're driving over 60mph. I've never had much of a complaint from people on the phone with me about being able to hear me, if anything I've heard that I actually sound louder when using it, which is good!
The stereo should be a little more powerful, for a car with a sporty powerful engine and all the toys that it has I would expect a couple hundred more watts but for the price of the car I guess I can't complain. The DVD-Audio is a nice feature if you want to keep buying the overpriced disks for it but I'm a fan of burning my own, the car doesn't have an MP3 player standard or a place to plug in an Ipod which I think wouldn't be so hard to do.... maybe they should work on that. They give you no option on which satellite radio company you can go with, you end up with an XM Radio button whether you like it or not. I skipped signing up right away after my trial was cancelled and they called me and offered it to me for $60 for the year..... (my salesman tipped me off to this, if you're eligible you should try it) ... you need to let your free trial expire first before you have any bargaining room here though.
The engine is quiet and purs very nicely under hard acceleration. I'm getting about 32mpg on the open road @ 68-70 mph with the cruise on and the air conditioning off. You can't complain about that! I've been using Mobil 1 - 0w20 oil since day one, get about 8k between changes, I try to keep a little ahead of the Maintenance Minder thing, I don't really trust that.
The Bridgestone tires wore out at about 27k. I'm driving the car about 250 miles a day so I get a lot of experience pretty quickly! I had Kumho Exsta all season tires put on and they're a little better in the wet weather than the stock tires were.
All around I'm glad I bought it, it's held it's value VERY well, better than any car I've ever had, Consumer Reports loves it and everyone who's ridden in it with me wishes it was theirs!
