Still the best bargain under $50K....

Pros: Gas mileage; Safety; Silky smooth; Gadgets Galore!
Cons: Tows max 3500 lbs.
The Bottom Line: The best luxury SUV under $50K.... it has everything a gadget junky myself could ever want.

The 2007 RX350 is equipped with a 3.5L V6 (certified Ultra-Low Emissions) which produces a powerful 270 horsepower, yet far from a gas guzzling monsters that its competitors are. It gets a thrifty 25mpg on the highway. So far, I am averaging close to 24mpg in combined city/hwy driving. It does run on premium fuel.

My RX350 comes equipped with an optional voice-activated GPS system with integrated rear-view camera, which is the BEST in industry. It can understand over 100 voice commands and has over 5,000,000 points of interest (banks/ATM, restaurants, gas stations, hotels, etc) in the U.S. and Canada.

But the best feature is its rear-view camera. I have several dogs that love to congregate around my vehicle while backing out of my garage, so it helps me avoid running them over. Once you put the car in reverse, the GPS immediately switches to rear view, which shows 180 degrees. The side mirrors also automatically tilt down so you can see if there's anything to the sides.

It also comes with Bluetooth technology which allows the system to interact with your cell phone. But I haven't had time to program this as of yet.

The heated leather seats are very useful especially now that's it's in the 30s. The leather Lexus uses is one of the best as it's very supple and comfortable.

The rear door automatically opens and closes at the touch of button, either on your remote or the door itself. This is very helpful when you're carrying bags of groceries.

The HIDs are very bright and illuminates the road better than conventional lighting. Adaptive Front Lighting System pivots the headlamps during turns to illuminate more of the road. Very useful in mountains where deer and other animals wander on the to road.

Rain-Sensing Wipers sensor detects the presence of rain on the windshield, the wiper blades are activated at the appropriate speed.

Dynamic Laser Cruise Control system uses laser technology to help monitor and maintain a pre-set following distance between your vehicle and the one traveling just ahead.

Power Moonroof can be opened and closed with one button. Haven't used it much due to freezing weather.

RX350 is one of the safest vehicles available on the market. The Supplemental Restraint System includes front seat-mounted side airbags that provide a larger protection area than conventional side airbags. A driver’s dual-stage airbag deploys at one of three speeds, depending on things like crash severity and driver’s seat-track position. And the front passenger’s dual-stage airbag uses occupant weight and crash-severity sensors to monitor its deployment. Also included are front and rear roll-sensing side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.

With Vehicle Stability Control, wheel-speed, steering-angle and yaw-rate sensors work together to detect the onset of a loss of wheel traction. If the onset of a skid is identified, the system can apply individual brakes and even reduce the throttle to help keep the vehicle on track. Another Actively Safe feature, Traction Control helps deploy power to the appropriate wheels during slippery conditions.

When the brake pedal is stepped on quickly and forcefully during an emergency situation, the four-sensor, four-channel Anti-lock Braking System with Brake Assist is triggered. If the driver does not apply enough pressure to the pedal, the system provides supplemental braking power. And to help provide even greater control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) modulates the amount of fluid pressure distributed to the brakes.

RX350 also comes standard with a direct Tire Pressure Monitor System. A light on the instrument panel alerts you when tire pressure is critically low, even when the vehicle is parked.

My RX350 had a MSRP of over $45K but I was able to bargain it down to $38K.
