Going on 2 years and still getting better

The Bottom Line: One of the best sub $20,000 cars out there that doesn't look and feel cheap.

Got mine roughly 2 years ago before gas pegged out at $3 a gallon. As a result, I got a rebate on top of good price.

I got the 2.3 Touring model with the auto tranny (with twin stick), a/c, 6 CD player, and the sun roof. Got the sun roof for free because I didn't want it but it was the only 07 on the lot at the time.

Pros:
* Consistent 27 to 30 mpg in the city. Close to 40 on the highway.
* Decent stereo and climate control system.
* Love the manual gate shifting. You can really scoot going into manual mode.
* Rock solid, not a squeak anywhere.
* You can and will pull away from traffic at a light. Peppy little monster.
* Dashboard that looks it came from a more expensive European car.
* Still get compliments on the look.
* The body must be something special because I still don't have a ding or dent after two years! Now watch, I'll get six tomorrow!
* Oddly enough, quieter than my father's O7 Cadillac CTS. Go figure! Makes little noise when accelerating.
* Ice cold a/c. Hang meat in the back for extra cash during the lean times if you want to.

Cons:
* Electronic dashboard that replaces standard version washes out in direct sunlight. I've complained to Mazda but they don't see an issue until many complain. Stay with the standard white faced cluster if you can.
* It's a 5 speed tranny and if you slow down for a yield sign but have the right of way, it will often bog down in 3rd gear until it figures out it needs to downshift to 2nd. Several times I've had to slap it down to 2nd manually to get the torque.
* Had to add a front end anti sway bar because the stock front end suffers from torque steer in turns from a stop.
* Paint finish is questionable. I got a Mazda approved front end bra and left it on for two weeks during our summer here. The paint was visibly hazy after I removed it to wash the car. Either the bra didn't breathe properly or the paint is a little thin, probably the latter.

Overall, probably the best car I've had in the last 5 years.
