The Bottom Line: The Graco SnugRide 8F12PT13 Infant Car Seat is safe and comfortable for your baby, fully-loaded, easy to use, easy to carry, and LASTS.
My husband, being the engineer type, ironically did all of the research on car seats when we were expecting our twins because I was in over my head with all of the safety specs, designs, weights, attachable options, and on and on and on that there was to know about car seats! So he did all the dirty work, and chose the SnugRide 8F12PT13 infant car seat for our babies. AND BOY WAS I GLAD that he did! I kept finding myself finding something else I just loved about them the more I used them.

The car seat comes standard with excellent safety ratings, a 5-point harness system, which was number one on our list, but aside from that, all of the extra bells and whistles you have to buy for a car seat -like a carseat cover or foot cover to keep the baby warm in cold weather, added foam/cushioning under the fabric to make for a much more comfortable ride, or a newborn head support to keep the baby's head from bobbing around, and little comfort straps that clip on the car seat straps themselves so they don't rub against the baby's neck or shoulders; they all came with the carseat! So A.) not only does that save us a ton of money not having to buy all of these extra things, but B.) we can "technically" pamper our babies with them; most car seat manufacturers say that any after-market products put on their car seats void the warranty and alter their safety ratings so they can no longer gaurantee the effectiveness of the car seat. Not for this baby though! So there was a lot of peace of mind there not having to choose between safety and comfort, but getting the best of both worlds.
I traveled a lot initially with the babies back and forth from Grandma's house which is a few hours away, and they always slept; people thought I was nuts taking the trip with two babies, but it really was no big deal -I'm convinced- because of that extra cushioning under the fabric.
I was initially apprehensive about the weight of the car seat and design of the handle because many of the moms in my circle of friends complain a lot about the awkward shape of their car seat handles and how it makes it hit into their hip and kind of sway semi-circularly while they're carrying their baby, but the straight across handle keeps it in place while you're walking and the slight curve at the top makes an easy little crook to carry comfortably with a bent elbow. I carried one on each arm until my babies were 9 months on all the little trips from the car to the shopping cart or into the house or what have you.. so the weight was obviously a non-issue.
The car seat base was also very simple to clip into your car, and the carseat latched and unlatched out of the base very easily as well. I have used these car seats in several different strollers that I've tried out and they snap right in. I loved the sleek design of canopy/sun cover and the simple, solid black and beige colors; I thought they were timeless, would work for a boy or girl, would easily match any stroller I chose to put it into, and I could add playfulness with different kids colors on the blankets or burp cloths I put in the carseat each day instead of being stuck with a graphic design on the outside of the car seat that you get sick of after two months.
The extra parts easily came on and off for you to use and wash at your conveinence, while still being a fully functioning baby carrier with the headrest and "extra" items off. After severall dozen washes, the color or fabric hadn't faded a bit. My sister had her second baby a year or so after mine were born and was so jealous of my car seats that she borrowed one of mine for the full duration of her baby's infancy, returned it, and it still looks good as new.
This car seat definitely has my tried-n-true stamp of approval, and like I said, having twins, I bought TWO of the them and I couldn't be happier! I fully intend to use them again and again for any future children.
