Pros:Easy to use, quiet, doesn't stink, low price, little/no maintenance, works well
Cons:Missed some stray blade of fescue
The Bottom Line: I am happy we bought this mower. I made sure we could return it when we bought it and I am keeping it. It exceeded my expectations.
I am a newbie environmentalist and thought I'd give this a try. I had only mowed our fescue lawn about 3 times before because I could never get the dang pull-start power mower started. Also, my husband was particular about the front lawn (mows diagonally, etc.) so it wasn't worth the hassle. After doing some research, and after the power mower died, we decided to give the Scott's mower a try.

I love this thing. I am not mechanically inclined, so my husband assembled it in about 10 minutes, without any tools. It doesn't stink as you mow because there's obviously no gas involved. It's quiet, again obviously, and I didn't worry about disturbing the neighbors while I mowed. It seemed as easy to push as the power push mower and it even seems lighter to me. It cut our fescue attractively and we did a section of our neighbor's bermuda. The bermuda section looked perfect--lush and even. Storage is easy, too, and there is no prep work to mowing the lawn. I admit that this mower missed a few stray blades of fescue here and there. The bermuda looked just perfect. I've read that the uneven areas and sticks on the ground can cause missed spots. We have plenty of sticks and bumps in our yard. Now I can mow the back without waiting for my husband to get home and start the mower for me! He says he might buy a used mower to continue to use on the front lawn, although he is still pondering that issue.
UPDATE: It has been a year since I bought my Scott's Classic Push Reel Mower. It has been consistently easy to push and mows the lawn with minimal fuss. I don't have to worry about mixing oil and gas, driving to the gas station to get gas in a can, pulling that stupid cord while I hold a handle, etc. I can mow quietly while the neighbors sleep in peace. I have used this mower with a great sense of satisfaction knowing I'm getting it done without contributing to the smog. The only part of the mower that has not held up has been the foamy kind of padding on the handle. It has split, but so far it is not really a problem.
