| Magick1's Full Review: 24 Snack Sz Bags Whoppers The Original Malted Milk... |
This goes back a little while, but I am still working on the candy from Halloween! When we were purchasing candy, we made sure to purchase things we liked to ensure that if any items were left over, we wouldn’t mind munching on them occasionally. Well, one thing led to another, I had surgery October 28th and I wasn’t able to answer the door for Halloween. So, all of the many bags of candy we purchased stayed right where they were. I took some to work for beating down that chocolate craving mid-day and to nibble on, just because. I knew it would be out of the house and the littlest member of the family wouldn’t be tempted to just eat herself to oblivion on chocolate.
The Product This package overall did not weigh a lot. There were little packages inside of the larger package. The little packages contain roughly 10-12 Whoppers inside. These Whoppers are little balls of chocolate covered malted milk. The candy is roughly the size of a nickel all around. Sometimes, you will find some that are not shaped as balls due to manufacturing issues they might be a semi-circular shape or lumpy ball shaped candies. I usually have seen a miss-made one about every 3 – 4 bags of these candies.
The candies, in case you have never had them, are a harder candy with dried malted milk inside. The malted milk is almost like a powder that was given just enough moisture to make it solid. It will crunch when you bite down on it and it will fill your mouth with a wonderful chocolate malt flavor. It’s like an actual chocolate malt, but it’s not made with ice cream nor is it cold! (Which in the winter in the Midwest, that’s a good thing).
These little candies are so easy to pop in your mouth and chew up, so having them in a small snack sized wrapper makes it much easier to keep from chomping down a whole bag of them! These little packs, I believe, are the original 100 calorie pouches that are becoming so familiar on the shelves now.
The Ingredients The ingredients for the malted milk balls are taken directly from the big wrapper. The chocolates are made by The Hershey Company, Hershy PA 17033-0815, U.S.A.

Overall Impressions You have to enjoy the flavor of malt. If you enjoy a hot fudge malt or chocolate malt, then you will likely enjoy these candies a lot. They are a bit dry and the chocolate is a bit light around the malt. But, the flavor combination is still very enjoyable. The size of the malted milk balls is small enough that little kids can eat them without an issue, but if they are under 4 or 5 years old, you will want to either cut these in half or possibly skip them. These definitely can be a choking hazard for this age group.
The Hershey chocolate flavor shines through with the chocolate coating on these malted milk balls. The flavor is nice, light and sweet. Imagine the plain Hershey Chocolate Bar as the coating, and you will get a nice hint of this milk chocolate flavor when you put these in your mouth. Although, if you remember these from long ago, you will be disappointed. The chocolate coating is so light you can almost see the malted mik in the middle. I remember the chocolate coating being so very thick when I was younger, but that's not the case today.
If you enjoy sucking on candies inside of just chomping on them, to make the flavor last a while, you can do that. You will obviously get the chocolate coating flavor first, then it will go into a hard, malted milk center where you can suck on these for quite a while. The flavor is a nice malty flavor that isn’t overly strong or obnoxiously strong. But, if you don’t like malt, you will likely hate the flavor.
This brings back memories of when I was younger, trick or treating and I would find some of these candies in my bag. I would always tear into this bag first and chomp down the Whoppers. If you haven’t had these in a while, you might revisit the flavor by grabbing a bag at your local shop, gas station or grocery store. If you take just a brief walk down memory lane sometimes can be really fun.
