.357 sig: My Glock 31 Eats Speer Lawman Ammo for Breakfast

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Performance, Tight Groups, Reliability, Cost
Cons:I'm not at the range now
The Bottom Line: The Speer .357 Lawman ammo works for me, and saves money at the range. Great performance and savings, I have to say thanks to Speer.

I love my Glock 31. That's right, I'm going to say it again, that "I love my Glock 31." Its a beast, and a royal treat at the gun range. While I do have other firearms, it is without a doubt, my favorite in every regard. This particular gun I've had since around 2002, and its had well over 10,000 rounds fed through it. There have been no issues of reliability, and its performance is second to none. The only problem, is that .357 sig caliber ammo is expensive. For that knock down power and design that's been adopted by some agencies but not a lot, you are going to pay a premium. If you are expecting to lay down the same amount of cash for 9mm ammo, I strongly suggest you get your head examined, and perhaps not consider owning or being around firearms.

These total metal jackets, encased all the way around, are fine for target purposes. While I wouldn't recommend the .357 Speer Lawman Ammo for defensive means, they are an excellent value at the range. Their 125 grain powder gives them stopping power alright, but they do not have hollow points or other fancy features, that you would want in a home defense. Sure they will work, but there are better options out there for that They are far more expensive, and at around $17 a box for fifty of these, you are going to have to pay a premium anyhow. That's okay, because this ammo is of fine quality, and unlike some cheap brands, this is one that you can save on, and not worry about shells getting stuck, misfires, etc.

I have at least put 1,000 rounds of this through my baby, and not one problem at all. I've found it to leave the same amount of residue that other rounds do, so cleaning is as always, an easy task. As for its performance, I have found it to be excellent at the range. My targets shot in tight groups, with no complaints whatsoever, with the exception when I have a bad day. These are very good at keeping those groups right where you want them, and I feel comfortable with the amount of recoil, that is associated with the gun firing these out of its chamber. Putting these into the magazine is a cinch, and this saves time at the firing line. That is a big plus, as is the fact that you can get more rounds of practice in, when you aren't paying a car note for a couple hours of time at a private range.

Its an honor to recommend the Speer Lawman ammo, in the .357 sig caliber. This brand has always been good, although I'm generally a fan of Winchester. Yet, when saving money, and providing reliability, you cannot go wrong with these. As for those who like to purchase shady ammo, such as the ones that are imported from Eastern Europe, you'll save money with those at the beginning. Yet you might destroy a perfectly good firearm. Spend a couple extra dollars, and purchase this one, as a compromise to ones  that are much more expensive. The performance and reliability alone far excel what I was expecting, and the 1,000 rounds without a single issue, prove that these are of high quality brass. You can find these at a lot of sporting goods stores, and while it does cost more to fire a .357 sig caliber hand gun, I think it beats a 9mm any day of the week.
