| jankp's Full Review: Tomima Edmark - 365 Ways to Kiss Your Love: A Dail... |
Since this is such a small hardback book, a little fatter yet shorter than a DVD at only 127 pages, and has a red ribbon and bow across the white cover, lovers everywhere with the desire to become more creative kissers may find it the perfect stocking stuffer this year. The 365 fun, sometimes repetitive, but always tasteful ideas are the creation of Tomima (think Aunt Jemima) Edmark, who extensively researched for her first, best-selling book, Kissing: Everything You Ever Wanted To Know and also is the inventor of TopsyTail for women’s hair.
These ideas are definitely encouraged for couples who share their lives and hearts with a bit of silliness, some respect and a whole lot of passion, but genital kissing is beyond the scope of this book, so if you want a book that tells you how to land that beautiful blonde for a zesty fling, well, this is not your book in my opinion.
To be more specific, if you believe that a kiss is only a preliminary to the main event, sort of a warm-up or a selling point that should just be a waste of time if the other person is really attracted to you, look elsewhere. You obviously don’t have the time to go home after dinner to brush your teeth when you could just go to her place and get it on, right? And these kisses are for every day of the year, which intimates that your love for the person you kiss will keep building with each day that passes.
As the song from Casablanca swoons, “You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss; a sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply as time goes by.” Rome was not built in one day and neither is love built on one kiss alone, but a kiss certainly qualifies as a cornerstone that could make or break your house depending on how much effort you put into building and maintaining it.
So let’s hear some of her ideas on how to “kiss your love,” shall we?
#45: Valentine Kiss
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with kisses in the “V” pattern of Morse Code (short, short, short, long) Idea: For fun, synchronize your kisses with your humming of Beethoven’s Symphony Overture. (da, da, da, duhhh!)
#128: Beverage Kiss
Surprise your love by serving his or her favorite drink. Just before handing it to your love, deliver a sweet kiss and say, “I wanted to touch your lips before this did.” (What a flirt!)
#269: Ping-Pong Kiss
This is a fun game to play when kissing your love. Form a tight seal between your two sets of lips. Puff out your cheeks and blow air into your love’s mouth, causing his or her cheeks to puff out. Your love, in turn, blows the air back to you…Do this back and forth ‘til your laughter breaks the seal. (Hmm, maybe you should be drunk first)
#316: Dog Kiss
Get up close to your love’s face and generate short, quick breaths through your nose to imitate a dog sniffing. Move your nose around your love’s face and neck the same way a dog would. (This could really work for those of you who like smelling before tasting)
#361: Something’s-In-My-Eye Kiss
Ask your love if he or she can see if there is something in your eye. When your love gazes in for a closer look, you zero in for a kiss. (Best used if their vision isn’t good)
Final Comments
This was a cute book if you like to kiss or be kissed by a significant other. It’s important to realize there are many other ways and times to kiss than as a form of foreplay while you undress each other, kisses like ear kisses, spiritual eye kisses (both the gaze kind and kissing the eyelids), tongue dancing or French and nose rubbing. I thought up one of my own called the Bird Kiss since I love watching my boy and girl parakeet kissing. First you rub your love’s nose, then nip at his upper lip with your teeth.
When I said above that her ideas were tasteful, besides not going into genital kissing, I meant there was no lip abuse tolerated here. No lip piercing, no bleeding the lips dry or sucking the air out of your love’s mouth beyond the point of pleasure. Edmark wants us to have fun with kissing, not compete for power or athletic ability.
It should be a well-known fact that lips are one of the erogenous zones and the lightest of touches with eyelashes, tongue or lips can do a lot more for winning your love’s heart than a bruising, slobbery kiss that comes out of nowhere. I suggest that if the former, more loving type of kiss makes you feel ill or like sneering, then you are not ready for a relationship or this little book.
Lastly I want to point out that these 365 ideas should be used only as a springboard for your own creations. Kisses are best when they’re a surprise to the other person (and even to you) and out of the ordinary routine of things, but to get you started, this book might come in very handy.
Although a number of the ideas weren’t her own, they’ve been very popular for years and you may need to be reminded that they're not just for your wedding day or when you're depressed and injured. Even if you think it’s silly and unnecessary, giving Edmark’s 365 Ways To Kiss Your Love will show the person in your life how much you want to keep the passion and love alive. Maybe this year you’ll enjoy standing under the mistletoe even more!
