| ace3502's Full Review: Vtech VT 1922 900 MHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
I bought this phone about 8-10 months ago after doing extensive research on digital cordless phones and this name brand, Vtech came out on top. Regular cordless phones today are not very reliable, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for them. The battery is not designed to be recharged numerous times. The battery for regular cordless phones recharges fully for a long time for good use, then after a while it does not charge to its full capacity therefore giving the user shorter battery life and eventually, after a very long duration of use, will no longer charge at all. I purchased this phone for a little under one hundred dollars, $90-95 or so, and I have been nothing but satisfied with it ever since.
The phone comes in different colors black and silver for sure and maybe a few others. The phone I purchased was a unique model because it had the detachable face plates that was designed to fit the color scheme of the room you put it in. With the phone comes a warranty card and an order form. This is one feature I believe is very good. It is so simple but makes so much of a difference. The order form is for an extra battery. Inside the base of the phone (the charger) there is a hidden compartment if you will to put an extra battery that charges constantly and is always full, so if the battery you use runs out due to over use or a power failure, you have a backup.
The phone has a 20 number memory speed dial which is a very nice touch for those of us with many numbers to remember. Programming is very easy just pick the slot 01-20 where you want the number, punch it in and press program when you are finished, very simple. The optional caller ID screen can be activated through your local phone company and also has a very large memory for numbers. The caller ID can store up to 50 of the last calls you have gotten, which, if you have a big family like I do, is very convenience to see who has called. The caller ID also has call waiting features so if one is on the phone and gets another call it will tell you on the caller ID who is calling, very good if you are someone who likes to screen their calls. Also the phone does have the reversible charging which means you can charge the phone with the display facing up or down. This is good for screening calls because if the phone does ring and the phone is up you do not have to pick it up once you see who it is.
The phone has ten channels to enable the user to venture far from the base and have excellent mobility with it. However the only down side to this is, it is not like a regular portable phone where you can change the channel yourself, you may be in the middle of a conversation and the phone changes channels on its own, on very rare instances (only if you go too far from the base) cutting you off. Do note that when the phone does change channels you can not hear the other person talking nor can they hear you, but this only lasts for a second or two. The phone can get a little static filled but it automatically changes the channel and 99% of the time becomes more clear.
The phone is headset compatible if you would like to pay a little extra and order it. This is a good feature for people who are constantly moving while on the phone and need both hands to do something. The headset is relatively clear but sometimes a little hard to keep on if you are constantly turning your head and moving around.
Overall the phone is of very high quality. It is durable, the backup battery is an excellent feature, caller ID call waiting options available, and the 20 number speed dial are just a few to remind you of. I strongly recommend this phone to the buyer, it is quality at a reasonable price.
