3M Scotch Removable Mounting Putty is something that I have been using for many years. I buy it at KMart for about $2.00. It's really inexpensive, very useful and a little bit goes a long way.

This is a putty, not a glue. To me the consistency is similar to clay or even Silly Putty. If you would like to mount art work, photos, paper or other similar items, this is the product for you. I often jot down notes as I am waiting at a red light, for example. I have a pad of paper mounted on my dashboard and in order to mount it there, I use Scotch Adhesive Putty. Tape would not work in an example such as this, but the Scotch Putty works great. Not only does it hold up in cold weather, it holds up in hot weather when the sun coming in on the dash is warm. This putty does not melt or ever leave a mess.


To use it just remove a small piece of Scotch Adhesive Putty from the package and knead it a little to help it become more pliable. Then just apply pressure to it and stick it to the surface (a wall, for example) and it sticks.  Then just mount your photo, a child's artwork, papers, and other light paper or cardboard items by firmly pressing. This Scotch Putty works so much better than tape. Tape might work for short periods of time, but it depends on the surface. Tape also often leaves a sticky residue.


When my sons were small, I used to put their art work up all over the house and the Scotch Adhesive Putty was so helpful with showing off their projects. I stuck it on walls, doors, the fridge, you name it. Also, when it is time to take your art work or your notice down, it comes off with no problem. If there is some putty residue left over, simply use another piece of the putty to stick it to itself. It comes off clean. You don't need to use much. A small dot should work for a regular size sheet of paper. You may need a little more if you're mounting a poster, but it still should work well.

Scotch Adhesive Putty works on most porous and non-porous surfaces including cinder block or brick. Just make sure the surface you are mounting on is clean and dry.

This putty is strong too and is able to hold up to one pound of weight. It is recommended that you store any leftover putty in an airtight bag such as a ziplock. A little bit of this putty goes a long way, so the amount you buy for $2.00 is very useful and will last a long time. You can also re-use it over again with no problem as long as it hasn't gotten debris or dirt on it.

WHAT YOU GET:
When you buy this Scotch Adhesive Putty, you get 4 strips of the putty which are about 3 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. You can twist, break or pull apart any size of the putty you intend to use. The package of putty I recently bought is a grayish-white putty, but I have seen it also in a medium blue color.
