elzora's Full Review: 3M Scotch Glue Stick Single Pack 0.52 oz (6015)
One of the school aged children in my home childcare is in kindergarten, and often brings home homework that needs to be cut and pasted. When my small glue sticks dried up, I let her use Scotch Permanent Double Sided Tape, but this became expensive, so at my next shopping trip I bought a tube of Scotch Permanent Glue Stick.
Description
The Scotch Permanent Glue Stick is a little larger than some other glue sticks sold in the school supplies section of my local Fred Meyer store. The tube is white with a red label, and measures 4 3/8" in length and is nearly an inch in diameter.
This product is made by the 3M company, and the tube contains .52 ounces of solid glue. Although the 3M company is based in St. Paul, Minnesota, my tube says this product is made in Korea. It is non-toxic (as defined in the FHSA).
Directions For Use
Can't get much easier to use than simply applying at least 2 strokes, and the glue stick will "bond items quickly.
How We Use Scotch Glue Sticks
This product is amazing! When I read that it is a "permanent" glue, I must say I was skeptical. The cap is sort of triangular shaped, with indentations on three sides, which allow your fingers to easily grip and remove the large cap. By the way, the cap snaps on very tightly, which is good, as it keeps the glue stick from drying out.
The glue itself does not have any odor associated with it, and one twist of the bottom will move the glue stick up about 1/4". There is a lot of glue in this container! I rolled the entire stick up and measured it, and found mine to contain 1 3/4" of solid glue.
Using a glue stick such as this is so much easier than applying a liquid school glue, and it dries much faster without getting the paper wet! I glued two sheets of paper together when I started this review, and initially they could be removed immediately, so if you were to get your paper in the wrong place, pulling it off and repositioning it is not a problem. However, after about 5 minutes, the two pieces of paper could not be removed without damaging one or the other. It truly is a permanent bond!
The only downfall I see when using this is that the glue is a bit hard to see when it is applied to white pieces of paper. When applied to yellow or blue colored paper it is easier to see, although the glue does still go on in almost an opaque color.
Using the Scott Permanent Glue Stick 6015 has made homework easier for my kindergarten aged child in my care. She likes working with the glue stick, and is able to do the pasting all by herself - which helps with her sense of accomplishment. If she occasionally gets some on my dining room table (which does happen from time to time), it washes off easily with a dishcloth and hot water.
There is nothing to dislike about this product! It was on sale for $2.49, which is a great price considering this tube should last a very long time, and the tight fitting cap should ensure that the glue does not dry out (like some other brands I have purchased). I gladly give this product five stars.
