One of the best snacks available in my view is a good pretzel. This can be a soft pretzel or Bavarian hard pretzels. It's a tasty, filling snack. It is also a snack that does require some condiment. Mustard is generally the condiment of choice for pretzels. I like to add some spicy mustard to texture the flavor.
I have used a great variety of mustards. The category here is for a three pack of Jack Daniel's Mustard. They have the Old No. 7, Honeydijon and Horseradish. I have used all three of these mustards in my rotation. I will admit that I usually purchase them separately but I would buy them in a pack if I found it.
The honeydijon is my least favorite of the three. It has a nice flavor but it is a bit sweeter than I would like. This one I find better to add to a hot dog than a pretzel. It gets a bit of tangy flavor with just a little bite in the finish. This one would probably be good for the person who wants a mustard with more character than regular spicy brown but doesn't necessarily want to feel it in the nose.
I like the horse radish mustard. Here they go for more heat. I like this mustard with a good soft pretzel. The added heat from the horse radish provides a good bite. I don't find it to be overly so it shouldn't intimidate heat wimps. It's also good because the flavor of the mustard seeds manages to come through very well. This one is also good on a bratwurst sandwich.
The Old No. 7 is the classic among the Jack mustards. It has a good amount of heat. I find it to be very flavorful. They do use some whiskey in this mustard. Perhaps that accounts for the smokiness in the flavor. This one has a bit more kick that the Horse Radish Mustard. I find that I like this one best of the three mustards. It is very flavorful. I works well with burgers, sausage and chicken. And, of course, it is a grand condiment for a Bavarian hard pretzel.
These three sauces combined would make for a nice gift item. I think a mustard aficionado would enjoy a gift like that. I'm not going to call these classics but they are solid performers. I recommend this for the mustard fans out there. I think it's also something that pretzel lovers should investigate if they want to add some zing to their pretzel.
