Scotch Restickable Glue Stick is Exactly That
by Kris Thompson

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Easy to use, not messy, restickable
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: I totally recommend for school, art, and office purposes--neat, easy, and works!
Remember glue? Good, old fashioned Elmer’s glue? Remember when you were a kid and you’d make the gooiest, most gawdawful messes because there was no way to get a thin, even layer that didn’t squoosh out the sides and make the prettiest collage look like poop? Remember coating the palms of your hands with it, waiting for it to dry, then peeling it off in a papery, skin-like layer, all your lines and wrinkles preserved, only to be balled up and discarded on the floor?
Me, too. That’s why I bought the Scotch Restickable Glue Stick for our son’s school projects. I know, I’m a terribly mean mom.
The Scotch Restickable Glue Stick isn’t all that different from pretty much every glue stick out there, in that you pop off the lid, twist the bottom to bring up the column of glue, then apply to the desired surface. That’s all old news, you can get that anywhere. What’s a bit different?
This glue stick tenders up a different kind of glue—less slick, less gooey, less slide-y, and decidedly more sticky than other glue sticks I’ve come across. More adhere-y, if you will. Rather than reminding me of the old school paste (you remember, hooves and bones), this reminds me of the backside of Post-it Notes.
You see, like Post-its, papers imbued with this glue restick. That’s right, you can glue it, then pull it apart, then press it back in place to have it adhere as securely as it was. You can do it again, if needs be.
And again.
Seriously, for the sake of science, I just glued two sheets of paper together, pulled them apart, then pushed them back together to test the adherence. And then I did it again. And again.
And then I waited twenty minutes and did it again.
This is a miracle for art projects like collages and the like—to be able to remove and reposition things? It’s almost like having a “step back” button!
Now, don’t mistake the glue here for REAL glue—this is a post-it style (maybe a little stronger) paste/glue, it’s not going to mend broken porcelain or lift cars. It’s not going to repair unbound books or even keep heavy posters on the door. But for art projects, hanging flyers, and the simple binding of printer paper together in neat, un-stapled groupings?
It’s perfection, it really is. Just run a couple passes of glue stick on the desired surface, wait a minute-and-a-half, then push the surfaces together. That easy!
According to the packaging, the Scotch Restickable Glue Stick is “non-toxic as defined in the FHSA.” That’s the FEDERAL HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES ACT, and I’m not familiar enough to wax poetic. This product is manufactured in Korea for 3M. I’m going to assume that’s South Korea.
Any drawbacks? Just one--this glue stick practically liquifies in sustained high heat, so don't leave it in your car's glove box.
And that’s about it—if you’re looking for a non-toxic, easy-to-use, effective glue stick for art or office projects, I definitely recommend the Scotch Restickable Glue Stick. It’s a keeper!
Oh, and I just unstuck and restuck those sheets of paper again. 40 minutes and half a dozen resticks, and it’s still going strong.
