Pros: Easy to use. Very Reliable. Low Cost.
Cons: A little dull in appearance.
The Bottom Line: Great starter unit but other players would be better for bigger systems.

| utrxstudent's Full Review: JVC KD-S550 Car CD Player |
The Good: This was the first CD player I installed in my truck when I was in high school. The reason I chose it was because it was cheap and I was soon pleasantly surprised to find out what a tough unit it is. It took all that I threw at it and believe me that was a lot. I had it wired to one 10in sub and a 200 watt amp and it handled it very well. The controls are easy to use and easy to access.
The Bad: After having it for about a year the volume buttons (which are silver) started to wear down. The silver slowly started rubbing off and you could see the black underneath the coat of silver. Other than that it never gave me any problems.
The Ugly: None... surprising for a cheaper unit.
If not for my truck being broken into, I would probably still have this unit installed. It was a great first CD player and probably would have lasted me for years. You definitely can't beat the price and JVC have always been one of my favorites.
