| jkerm's Full Review: Audiovox XA2250 Car Amp |
My kids wanted to add a little power to their music and so I went shopping for an amplifier to boost their radio performance. Did I ever goof up!
This amplifier is a disgusting piece of machinery. The amp burns up way too easy. In my experience, the BEST estimation on how long the first one lasted was only about three months.
We went through several in the next few months. One problem is when you bridge the amp, it gets way too hot and it will burn all the electrical wires in your car. If you directly hook it up, it will last you about a month and a half. You have to hook up a minimum of an 8 gauge wire to the positive terminal on the battery and the negative wire has to be grounded to the body with less than a foot long ground wire. You have to use a minimum of a four gauge speaker wire to get any kind of good beat out of it.
Also, with the Jensen amp, you have to use the Jensen speakers. In my experience, if you use those speakers and try to use it with any other speakers, they will burn up the other brand speakers. You have to turn the base up on your radio in order to get any base out of it.
If you are looking for a powerful sound, then keep looking!
