| sliznyak2's Full Review: Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 QD 35mm Film Camera |
Olympus is a trusted manufacturer of fine optics and this zoom camera is not any different than any other products. Olympus zoom 140 is a camera that can do many things but it likes to do them on its own, without any manual adjustments. There are just a few buttons on it and mot options are available, different flash modes. I have not found portrait mode yet and the pop-up flash is somewhat undesired, it does provide a better range of flash than the other cameras but i heard the spring that pops up the flash can break at any time and the repair is costly. I also feel uncomfortable about the size of this Olympus, compared to the SLR, this camera is so small, that it becomes hard to hold it. I would be more happy if it had a more solid look and that would fit the purpose of a long zoom that it has. i also heard that if it gets dropped, it may break easily and then it is almost impossible to fix. Otherwise, it produces sharp and colorful pictures. However, get some 800 grain speed film if you use it at the whole 140 zoom. Otherwise the pictures will come out dark or fuzzy. I like it being waterproof, I think many people buy it for that reason, but I never tested taking it outside in rain or snow. don't take it under water, that's not it's purpose!
You do end up spending a little more, but you get the basic high quality point-and-shoot.
