| predoc's Full Review: Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 QD 35mm Film Camera |
Having used a wide variety of cameras, from the simplest point and shoots to the most complicated rangefinders, I find the Olympus Stylus Zoom camera to be the best of both worlds. Taking very good pictures without the trouble of lugging around heavy rangefinders with extra zoom lenses, is something that I definitely appreciate.
I have been able to take my camera on all my trips, from different ones throughout the US and even was able to take incredible pictures from the window of a helicopter flying over Hawaii. So far, I have been very satisfied, and have had no problems to speak of. The pictures appear as good as those I used to take with my rangefinder, and the views seem clear and well focused.
The zoom lens also works without problems. I have had some cameras where it seemed that the zoom equipment was always stuck, but this has not been the case with this camera.
The anti-red eye flash does not work incredibly well, but this was no surprise to me, as it has seemed that every camera I have gotten advertising this feature did not fully cure the problems of red eyes. Furthermore, at times the sliding door to the lens of the camera can get stuck, but I have found by simply sliding it back and forth, it seems to fix the problem momentarily.
Thus, I would rank this as by far the best and easiest camera I have ever had, and would readily pay the $200 or so that it cost in order to get the good pictures with ease that I have been able to appreciate recently.
