| loristrom's Full Review: Olympus Stylus Zoom 140 QD 35mm Film Camera |
My previous camera was an Olympus Superzoom 3000 Deluxe and I had it for approximately seven years. So when it needed to be replaced, I looked at many different brands and styles and decided on the Olympus 140 Quarts Date.
This camera is a breeze to use! It has a zoom 38-140mm which is one of the largest zooms available on a point and shoot camera. I have seen that there is one brand out there that has a 200mm zoom lens, but the cost is almost $150 more than the Olympus 140QD. I find that the 140 zoom is ample for taking the pictures that I take - usually of my children playing sports or involved in some outdoor activities.
The clamshell design and the "compactness" of this camera make it easily carried in my purse or in a fanny pack. I carry this camera everywhere with me!
It has several different flash options, including red eye reduction and night time red eye reduction. It is auto advancing and also auto rewinding when the film is at it's end. It has a built in lens cover and is sealed especially to resist moisture from sprinklers, getting splashed ,etc. It is not for use under water and should be wiped as soon as possible when it does get wet - but it can withstand moisture better than most cameras.
The picture quality is awesome! Nice and bright and clear pictures - just the way they should be!
I priced this camera around town and found that it was priced between $259 - $269, but I bought mine at Costco for $239 and it included the carrying case, battery and a roll of film.
I highly recommend this camera for the average user/parent!
