Pros: Take it anywhere, compact, good picture quality and features
Cons: Piece of junk. Nonexistent customer service.
The Bottom Line: If you can afford to buy a new camcorder every two years, then this is a great product. If you want customer service and quality, avoid it like the plague.

| jsweb's Full Review: JVC GR-DVM50 Camcorder |
We have a GR-DVM50U (same thing, just the previous model)and it's a piece of junk. We've had it in the shop three times already (had it three years), each time between $200 and $500. Now it's about to go in again. We could have bought a new one by now!
First, it started pixelizing bad, looking all broken up with digital jazz in with the photos.
Got that fixed, then the shutter for the stills stuck open and much of our video footage from Hawaii only showed the left half of the screen, while the right side was red or blue.
Then, the switch fell off for no reason.
Of course, we didn't use it that much the first year, but once we started using it and it started breaking, everything was out of warranty. I see why the only put six months labor and one year parts on it.
Now, we are starting to get an E04 message, and Sandra's college graduation has half of the ceremony with the right side of the screen being red.
Every time, we cannot get any kind of support from JVC, either on the web, or by phone. They don't stand behind their products at all (I see why now).
We will definitely not buy any other JVC products in the future. Too bad, because the layout of the camcorder is a really great idea. You can put it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Maybe someone else will take the design and add some quality and customer service.
Unless you like the inside of service shops, stay away from JVC!
