| djmcdowell's Full Review: JVC GR-DVL9500 Mini DV Camcorder |
I purchased this camcorder just over one year ago. The reason was the size, the features but most importantly the progressive scan and digital still download capability without the need to invest another $100 - $250 on a firewire. For the price this camcorder had it all.
At first the picture quality was great nad the downloaded stills were pretty good (I don't think the progressive scan makes that much difference). Not long after the waranty expired, I started getting an error that would cause the camera to cease functioning. I have had it in for repairs (to JVC in California) and I am now getting two other fatal errors as well (they started showing just before the camera was sent to JVC). This seems to be the most unreliable and fragile piece of electronic equipment ever produced. If you purchase a JVC camcorder, do not take it outside and try not to take it out of the camera bag. You will get as much video as I do (nearly none) but you will save on repair costs. This would be an ideal gift for anyone - if you own a video repair store and would like to guarantee an income stream.
