| Meeeeester's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-EJ915 Personal CD Player |
If you're looking for a great CD player, this is definitely it. A top of the line CD player, very lightweight, portable and very durable. The player itself is about a half inch thick and easy to palm. Definitely, the greatest feature of this player is its shock protection. It takes a MIGHTY shaking before even beginning to skip. You can bring it along in your car and not have to worry about going down a bumpy road, the shock protection on this is TOP QUALITY! I've stuffed the cd player in my pockets and front sweater pockets, held it upside down and sideways and it NEVER has trouble playing for me! The LCD display is a good plus, though you don't need it. However, without the headphones lcd display, the actual cd player itself has no display on it, so if you use a set of headphones w/out LCD option, then you'll just have to know your CD's. There is a battery compartment that uses rechargeable batteries inside the actual cd player(flip open the top and replace the batteries) which is definitely a nifty and good way to keep your batteries. However, for the maximum battery life you would attach a second battery pack w/ AA batteries. This is the one major setback for thie player, at least for me. The separate battery pack does not attach to the cd player very well. It's a good 3 inches long and attached to the cd by a 4 inch wire to the back of the cd player. This makes it very annoying and uncomfortable to have sometimes as it is always dangling around and swinging back and forth. Plus, if you place it down or in your pockets etc. often, the wires of the battery pack and your headphones end up getting all tangled up and it's annoying to have to separate and then hold the battery pack. As I am unsure of how strong the connection is between the external battery pack and the CD player is, I am always holding it and worrying about it. Also, the extended play, when I did combine the external and internal batteries together(though i did not count the hours) surely did not feel like it lasted anywhere near 60 hours of playback. maybe 30...but I did use it up over 2 months, which may have just worn it down while inside the case. Besides some slightly annoying characteristics, this is definitely a CD player worth buying. If not this exact model, then at least a similar one by SONY. The shock protection is AWESOME.
