Pros: Very good audio/features.
Cons: After two years, it gave up. Lacks radio.
The Bottom Line: Although likely a discontinued model, I would recommend AIWA portable CD players if this is any indication of their quality.

| moviefan15's Full Review: Aiwa XP-V50 Personal CD Player |
I bought this CD player a little over two years ago. It is a nicely compact CD player that will fit - snugly - in a pocket or more comfortably in a jacket pocket. The player has a responsive fast-forward and reverse, as well track skip and stop. DSL adds some bass and heft to the the music.
Sound quality through the supplied headphones was, as you might expect, rather poor. None of these portable CD players seem to have particularly well-constructed supplied headphones. I used this portable player with Sennheiser headphones (sort of like drinking fine wine out of a Soda can - the headphones cost twice as much as the player) and the sound quality with those headphones and this player seemed more than satisfactory, with pleasing bass and good mids/highs.
The player's small LCD screen offered track/time information.
This player replaced a Sony that I was very unsatisfied with. That player skiped as I walked down stairs. This player, on the other hand, rarely skipped even while walking very fast. It has "EASS +", which is apparently AIWA's anti-shock system. I can say that it worked above my expectations. Battery life was excellent, as it lasted around 5 hours.
The problem that I have now is that, well, the motor has given up after two years. It happened slowly, but surely - after a while, the player started not reading CDs more and more often until it eventually became noisy when it did read CDs and then recently stopped completely.
This model is likely now discontinued. However, I have to say that it worked well while it lasted. Although I haven't bought another CD portable since, if I did, I'd definitely consider another AIWA.
