| ResinRed's Full Review: Aiwa XP-V50 Personal CD Player |
Last Christmas I recieved the Aiwa XP-V50 from my brother. I would have to say, it is one of the better presents I have recieved from him over the years. This CD player has definently gotten it's use from me, especially the fact that it comes with me every morning for my 1 and a half hour commute to work in NYC.
Sleek design
The XP-V50 is very thin. It is easy to carry around although they do make smaller ones. It is not a hassel, and not annoying to carry around, and it fits nicely in hand. It has a nice design to it, almost futuristic, and overall is not an ugly looking CD player.
Easy to find buttons?
One thing I do complain about is the limited access of the play, fwd, rvs and stop "circle" button on the CD player. The way it is shaped, it can get in the way if you have big fingers, and have you press a function that is not desired. The DSL (extra bass) button and the repeat buttons are an easy access feature. Also, the open close feature is not that reliable, it seems to get in the way at times and can open the lid during play.
Extras
Some extras on the XP-V50 are the DSL (extra bass enhancer), the hold button (to save battery life when not in use), random play, repeat play, and a long lasting battery life, which I have gotten a good 17+ hours out of it per. The AC adapter is good if you are inside and wish to hook it up to your sterio system, which I do to mine, which in this case my sterio CD player is on the fritz. The car audio hook up is also included in this package. This CD has 10 second anti skip, which does work 100% of the time. If you have the anit skip on, it does what it says - it does not skip.
Sound
On a scale from 1-10 I give the sound about a 6 or 7. Yes, I have heard better. At first I thought it was the headphones, so I tried a ifferent pair. You really can not "blast" your music. Max volume on this does not give a lot of power, so you can imagine what 5 or 6 normally sounds like. A plus for the XP-V50 is the car audio hook up. This CD player gives the car a great sound, and adding it to a car system (amp, bass box, ect) gives it that extra push that some cars need.
Reliability
This CD player has lasted me 9 months, and the only thing so far is that it has a few scratches in it. It does what it has to do. It has been dropped a few times, and it does not show that much wear and tear. Yes, there are better CD players out there.
Price
My brother paid $79.00 for this model. He could have shopped around and gotted a better deal. This CD model will probably be updated to a new model soon.
Overall
Overall, this CD player does the job - not the best, not the worst. It will not skip, so that is a plus. The sleek design, and thin body gives it the looks, and it makes your car system sound good. I wish that the normal sound from CD player to headphones were better. Overall I rate this CD player a 3 out of 5.
