| radckh's Full Review: Pioneer DV-343 DVD Player |
I bought this unit a month ago to replace my Sony 360 model which got the infamous "no disc" problem. I decided to stay away from Sony for the replacement player.
I looked at Toshiba, Panasonic and Pioneer - staying away from the lesser (IMO) brands. This Pioneer was the only one that had both Coaxial AND Optical digital outputs! I wanted both so that I could feed the Coax into the DVD input and the Optical into the CD input on my Sony ES receiver. This way I don't have to change the DSP setting from 'Cinema' to 'Music' each time I change from a DVD movie to a music CD.
Everything works great on this model . . . so far.
My only complaints are: 1) the remote, because the buttons are all so small (Not that big of a deal though, since I run everything through my Radio Shack 15-1994 universal, programmable remote); and 2) there is only 1 high speed scanning speed (the Sony had 3 speeds!) and it's horrible, basically just still pictures flashing by really fast - makes it hard to find a spot in a movie that you're looking for.
