hurttc21's Full Review: Intel Pocket Concert (128 MB) MP3 Player
There are so many reasons to buy the Intel Pocket Concert MP3 player, I hope I can remember them all! The product comes with 128MB of built-in memory (not upgradeable), an FM tuner, a belt clip, and some very comfy ear phones. With 128MB of memory I was typically able to load 33 songs onto the MP3 player, with the songs varying in time and bit rate. Other players offer expandable memory that is often very expensive, and in my opinion, unnecessary. With the large memory capacity of the Intel player, and the ease that songs can be added or deleted to the player, extra memory is not needed. To load new songs to the player is very simple. The Pocket Concert comes with it's own software. You can browse and add multiple songs to the player at once. And if you make a mistake, you just select the song on the Pocket Concert song list and click Delete. The transfer from computer to Pocket Concert is quick due to the USB connection.
The FM tuner give the Pocket Concert some added flexibility. If you listen to the same songs too many times, you can pop on the radio and listen to some new songs or those late night call in talk shows. The reception on the FM tuner is not always great if you're at some place like the gym or where there's a lot of interference.
The belt clip is not the most useful belt clip I have ever used. I often use the Pocket Concert when working out and multiple times have had it fly off of me while running. (You'll be happy to know, that when dropped, the player turns off, resets itself, and then starts right back up. I have dropped it multiple times and it still works great...although I don't recommend throwing it on the ground a lot...) I have had more luck clipping it to my undies with the display facing against my body. Sweating on the display doesn't seem to have any effect on it.
The Pocket Concert also comes with some wrap-around-the-ear headphones. They seemed comfortable, but I honestly don't use them that much, I am already hooked on a different kind of headphones.
The Pocket Concert is very small, so small, it will fit in your pocket! There are very few buttons to work, and they're very easy to figure out whether you're sitting at work or running on the treadmill.
The Pocket Concert is supposed to be upgradeable using Intel software for use with future music types, but I haven't had the need to use that feature yet.
