Pros: Very pretty! Cheap, good lcd, rechargeable battery, decent photo quality (in most cases)
Cons: Poor battery life, poor photo quality in some conditions, detachable flash, and sloooooow
The Bottom Line: As it is, it's fun and moderately featured. For my cost after rebate (~$50), I got considerably more than I paid for. I would recommend this camera at around $100-$150.

Though I've used a variety of different digital cameras, the Samsung SDC-80 was my first purchase. At the time, I was looking for a smartmedia camera (I already had a few other smartmedia devices) with rechargeable batteries, a flash, an lcd screen, about 1 megapixel resolution, for around $100. Oh, and I wanted it to look cool, too. Well, I did and didn't get everything I asked for in this camera. On paper, it looked perfect. All I asked for and more: it also had a delay feature, a black and white mode, two different qualities of normal pictures, and a feature which takes 4 or 9 shots in quick succession. Plus, it comes in four really cool looking colors. And I've certainly used worse cameras before.
Unfortunately, everything wasn't quite as good as it could have been. It did come with a recharegable, removable battery, but it was proprietary and held about an hour's charge at maximum, less with frequent use of the lcd screen, but it was difficult to tell because the battery display would usually vary when I would check it (only available when the lcd was turned on). The flash did a reasonable job, but for some reason it was made detachable and therefore kind of weird. The photo quality was fine when it was taking pictures outside, or in a well lit area, at either standard quality or high quality. A relatively large lcd monitor is a nice touch, as is the wrist strap. Probably the worst things about this camera are the time delays. For example, turning on the camera initially, then turning on the lcd screen, the time between one picture can be taken and the next one, not to mention that it has only has a serial connection (I have an abhorrence to serial; I take out the smartmedia card and pop it into a usb smart card reader, works fine). Also included is a software package and the ability to plug the camera into NTSC or PAL video inputs to view pictures on a television (admittedly, I have never used either).
