It all comes down to the photographer's eyes, the conditions under which s/he usually works, and a healthy does of personal preference.

Good review! I just can't agree with you on the FM2n over the FM3a, I find the LED display and lack of TTL flash on the FM2n absolutely crude. Never had a problem seeing the FM3a's screen in low light, nor the FE-2 for that matter (I use the FM3a's plain center accessory screen on both), but you did mention the AE lock remedy, good job there. One of my Contaxes combines both LED and display, maybe that's the solution.

Since it was my wife who authorized the purchase, I'd have to disagree. After my efforts to buy a decent used FM though, I too have a Rolling Stones theme, I can't get no satisfaction!

Thanks for the kind words. I've been thinking about buying a medium format camera and portrait lens, so another review may soon be coming.

One of your best posts. Good job!

Always thought of getting one of these but being married I've had to adopt a new theme:
You can't always get what you want.

Let's see more reviews of camera gear.

Yes, this camera works extremely well within the limitations of manual focus and center-weighted metering. For photographers used to older equipment (like me), it is intuitive to use and becomes an extension of your eye. For photographers used to the modern autofocus it will likely take some getting used to, but my guess is that once mastered, will make them better photographers.

Thank you for the compliment, it is always nice when someone appreciates your work. If I can answer any questions you may have about the FM3a please don't hesitate.
